The last few days in London were a combination of trying to catch up on all the tasks I had to complete, packing, and fitting in all the last-minute site-seeing trips I wanted to do.
Thursday, July 14
The morning my parents left, we all hopped on a coach bus to Cambridge. It was an interesting day and our tour guide was quite a character to say the least.
After a quick tour, we went to the local market to get some street food and then some ice cream that was made in front of us. It was SO GOOD!
My favorite part of our time in Cambridge was a river tour!
Friday, June 15
The next morning we had class, but afterward Dr. Moorman and I went over to Harrod's to check it out. Harrod's is a VERY high-end department store. We walked around and looked at all of the expensive clothes. There was one dress that I loved until I looked at the price tag...I can really pick them! They had a food court and the cupcakes were beautiful!
I couldn't make myself get flower cupcake. They were too beautiful to eat, so I got an Oreo one instead and it was DELICIOUS!
After Harrod's, Nicole and I went to the Camden Market. It was so huge and they had some adorable stuff. I got an elephant ring and a scarf as a gift.
Saturday, July 16
Saturday started off with a search for pub breakfast, which was more difficult than you would imagine, but I finally got some English Breakfast!
I had the rest of the day to myself, so I went on a trip to the Tate Museum of Modern Art. I'm not much of a modern art fan, but I did get to see some Picasso and Andy Warhol. I also visited the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit, which was beautiful!
The walk back was beautiful across the Millennium Bridge.
I wanted to visit the Painter's Painting exhibit at the National Gallery, but by the time I got there, it was closed, so I visited the National Portrait Gallery instead.
Nicole and I also tried out some Chinese dumplings that were recommended to me. I'm not much of a Chinese food fan, but these were pretty good.
Sunday, July 17
I wanted to do a short day trip on Sunday, so Nicole and I hopped on a train to Dover to see the white cliffs. When we got to Dover, our first stop was to the Dover Castle. We could see it on the hill from the train station and decided to walk, which was what we would be doing for the rest of the day! The walk was amazing!
The castle was almost 1000 years old and so cool!
After grabbing a quick bite to eat at the castle, we talked up a long windy road toward the white cliffs.
Up there were some of the most beautiful views I've ever seen! We walked and walked until we saw the lighthouse we wanted to visit in view!
A kind older man gave us a tour of the lighthouse and then we had tea in the base.
The walk back was equally gorgeous. I am terrified of heights, so when we decided to climb up one of the large hills, it was one of the scariest things I've ever done. Nicole encouraged me until I made it to the top.

Everything was just so breathtaking.
After we made it back to the visitor's center, we caught a cab back to the harbor and got ice cream before walking back to the train station.
Dover was one of my favorite parts of my entire trip and definitely my favorite place in England!
Monday, July 18
Monday was my students' last internship day, so I had the day to myself. I decided to visit the British Library one last time to go to the Treasure Room, which housed so many incredible items including Magna Carta, Jane Austen's writing desk, the first handwritten version of Persuasion, the Gutenberg Bible, handwritten music my Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin, and so many other amazing things. I loved it.
I also finally made it to the Painter's Paintings exhibit at the National Gallery before having lunch with Dr. Moorman and spending the afternoon packing.
Tuesday, July 19 (The LAST Day)
The last day in London was jammed-packed with events. We started the day off with our last class before grabbing lunch at Wahaca and heading to the London Eye.
It was HOT in London that day, but it was such a great way to finish our trip. We got a great view of the city! Next we had to grab our last gelato at Snowflake before heading to our group dinner on the Bank.
After dinner, I had to go by Big Ben one more time. I got a little emotional knowing that this would be the last time I got to see it, at least for awhile. It was such a beautiful evening and I had a hard time leaving.
On the walk back, I documented some of my favorite places in my neighborhood, including my tube station, my grocery store, and the Starbucks next door.
London was an amazing city, probably my favorite city. I am so beyond thankful that I had the privilege to live there for 6 weeks, get to know the people, and experience all that the city had to offer. Some crazy stuff happened while we were there: Brexit, the appointment of the new Prime Minister, and so many other things. It was such an incredible experience and I feel so extremely fortunate.
